King’s Cross Canal Corridor
As part of the wider King’s Cross Railway Lands development the canal corridor between Islington and Camden will receive considerable investment. The canal has a unique charm that comes in part from its weathered materials and idiosyncratic details and which we wanted to preserve. We advocated a policy of ‘conservative repair’ for the towpath itself, while new landmarks, visible from street level, were proposed for the main access points. These would act as a focal point for new signage and lighting, leaving the towpath clear of unwanted clutter.
