Fitzroy Street

Owned by Jesus College, this new shopping parade negotiates a difficult transition between a busy high street and the listed cottages of New Square. A life-expired 1950s retail unit has been replaced by an elegant and carefully detailed building of brick and reconstituted stone. Sensitive repairs to the adjacent listed houses, also owned by the college, were undertaken at the same time and included the rebuilding of the garden walls in reclaimed bricks and lime mortar.
