Temple Avenue
The first houses completed as part of the Joseph Rowntree Foundation’s 540 unit Derwenthorpe development, these prototypes are being used to test energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions for the first phase of the project. Post-completion monitoring by Leeds Metropolitan University shows a significant narrowing of the performance gap between predicted and actual energy use. Each house also trials an alternative 'Modern Method of Construction'; thin-bed masonry and prefabricated timber frame. Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 has been achieved.
